Motorola-Ringtone History

Motorola is Famous for ringtones and mobile around the world.

In the beginning was only a ring which appear dull, using only one tone track. And nothing is provided with it except the the single-line melody -- not much of a choice. Initially ringtones are designed from more of an electronic trill or beep. Then introduced the cellular phone ringtone. A cellular phone ringtone is a sound file that is played by a cellular phone. The facility was originally provided so that people would be able to determine when their phone was ringing when in the company of other mobile phone owners.

The first ringtones invented were monophonic, which mean we can play only one simple note at a time.

Some of the early cell phone models, used ringtone editor to create monophonic ringtone. To compose free ringtones directly to the phone or to make them with a ringtone composer, never became a big hit. Then Nokia invented text messaging. And then soon realized that you can use the same technology to easily transmit songs to mobile phone handsets. This led to the development of Harmonium, the first complex polyphonic sound creator.

The year 2002 is created vast changes in the ringtone history. Nokia 3510 was the first phone optimized for playing polyphonic ringtones. Soon other mobile companies also adopted the MIDI standard that enables more realistic polyphonic sounds for ringtones. Instead of using monophonic tones users suddenly started using ringtones designed by harmony and texture.

The year 2003 was the actual breakthrough year for polyphonic ringtones and the ringtone market. Many companies that are in the Cell phone markets came up with new ideas and concepts. Many cell phone providers also came up with new ringtone formats. Motorola introduced Groovetunes and Nokia introduced Nokia True Tones.
